Pelicans Invade Lake Of The Ozarks

The White Pelicans are back, or at least migrating through to their northern Summer homes. We think of Pelicans as southern coastal birds, but the White Pelican passes thru the lake area in early spring and again on the Fall. The pelicans travel in fairly large flocks and are large, somewhat elusive birds which can be hard to spot. I think they have distinctive graceful flight pattern. If you are up early you may spot them overnighting in a protected cove. If you missed them this spring they'll be back in the Fall.
